Part 1- 2 NODE FAILOVER CLUSTER,WINDOWS 2012 RC

In this post today I will go over configuring iSCSI SAN which is now a in-box feature in Windows 2012 RC, after setting it up in Par2 will go over setting a 2 Node Failover cluster in Windows 2012 RC accessing the shared iSCSI SAN.

Lab:

Enabling and configuring ISCSI SAN:

Open Server Manager, click Manage and Select Add Roles and features

click Add Roles and features...

Click Role based or feature-based installation and click next..

Select a server and click next...

Enable iSCSI Target Server and click next...

click next...

click Install...

this finishes the Install, click close and open Server Manager.....

Click File and Storage Services...

Click iSCSI and click the New iSCSI Virtual Disk Wizard or go to Tasks and click New iSCSI Virtual Disk...

Select a volume and click next...

Provide a iSCSI virtual disk name and click next..

Pick a Size for the disk and click next...

As this is the 1^st disk we are creating so we have only 1 option to select that is New iSCSI target. After provisioning the disk to a Server you will see the option add to Existing iSCSI target enabled.

Target servers will identify the disk with this Name, so provide a Name and description and click next...

we need to Add all the Servers which will be accessing this disk...

Add initiator ID window opens up. Before you click on Browse make sure on the target server you have enabled the iSCSI initiator service .

Add all the server you want the disk to have access... As I would be attaching this disk to 2 Node Failover cluster I have added both the servers.

Optional: Enable any authentication if you need.

Click next...

Review the settings and click Create...

So we have successfully created a Disk...Click Close....

I followed the same process and added one more disk called Quorum.

In the Part2 i will go over adding the iSCSI disk's to Nodes and setting up Failover cluster.
